This often costs us a lot more and makes the sourcing more complex, but it is something Andrew and I both care about, so we're committed to progressively dimininishing our impact.Īnd fourth, we keep prices reasonable. I had no idea the damage non-organic fabrics were doing to our environment. Third, anything we knit, we knit with organic, sustainable, and recycled fabrics. We sew in a small factory in Los Angeles and we're there almost every day. There is not other way to manufacture ethically. Second, it's important for us to know the people that sew with us. We've spent so many hundreds of hours with all the folks we work with, the dye houses, trim makers, zipper factories, etc., that we know them personally, and they are the real secret behind being able to do what we do. We spend months developing our fabrics, and test hundreds of variations before locking something in, and knit everything custom with local mills in Los Angeles. Our first focus is quality, and we've spent four years, night and day, perfecting our design and manufacturing processes to do that. I built tech companies for a long time before this, and grew up around small construction businesses in my family, and will unequivocally say that this is by far the hardest business I've ever built. we work really hard to do what we do, and it's because we truly believe in it, and that there needs to be a company doing what we're doing. Each shipment feels like it was packaged with the same care and love that these guys put into the company. In addition, the brand is dedicated to ethical manufacturing, meaning it uses factories that pay their employees fair wages. Andrew and William are very communicative, accommodating, and, in my opinion, are two of the nicest guys in the clothing business. Perhaps the thing that stands out most with Pistol Lake is the customer service. The brand really refined itself, however, in 2016 by revamping its website, cutting costs (abandoning 2-day shipping for first class shipping, e.g.), and creating limited runs of certain garments to combat excess inventory and to increase popularity. Eventually, it took flight with a full-time webstore that abandoned the pay-before-it's-made model. The brand began several years back as a Kickstarter campaign. The brand specializes in athleisure and casual basics like sweatpants, sweatshirts, tees, and maybe most popularly, henleys.
